This year’s Starlight Strut takes place on Friday 17 May, a 5km and 10km sponsored night walk, with intu Derby hosting the start and finish lines.
Treetops, based in Risley, provides nursing care and emotional support for adults with life limiting conditions living in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Last year, the hospice supported over 1,800 adults with conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis and motor neurone disease.
Proud to be part of the action
Intu staff are delighted to be supporting the event which is celebrating its tenth year with a carnival-theme, and several staff will be volunteering on the night too.
Carly Salisbury, marketing manager at intu Derby said:
“We are very excited to be hosting the 2019 Starlight Strut. We know that many of our shoppers look forward to the event and this year we are proud to be part of the action.
“Raising money for Treetops Hospice Care is a very worthy cause and one we are delighted to be able to support.”
The Starlight Strut has raised over £400,000 for the hospice over the years. Previously a women-only event, this year’s Starlight Strut (previously known as the Moonlight Walk) has been opened up to men and children to take part as well.
This year’s Starlight Strut will be a fantastic success
Laura McWha, Treetops corporate partnership fundraiser said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to be working in partnership with intu Derby and with our sponsors’ support, we’re sure this year’s Starlight Strut will be a fantastic success and help us raise a huge amount for the hospice.
“Treetops is a registered charity and we need to raise over £3million each year to continue to support local people and offer all our services for free. We can only achieve this with the support of the local community through events such as the Starlight Strut and we are encouraging everyone to register and support this signature event.”
Stratstone Mini Derby are also sponsors and are branding up a special Starlight Strut mini to promote the walk.
Treetops services include Support and Information, Wellbeing Space, Hospice at Home nurses and Therapeutic Services including counselling, art therapy and complementary therapy
