This was one of the best courses we have ever had. It’s given me much more confidence in being able to support a child or family who are grieving. It was well-presented, informative and enlightening.
- An overview of loss, bereavement, and grief
- A description of current models of grief
- An exploration of children’s understanding of death and their developmental responses
- Key factors which help a grieving child to manage their feelings
- An experience of empathic listening skills
- Examples of positive and practical ways of supporting bereaved children
- An awareness of self-care for staff
Day | Date | Time | Venue |
Wednesday | 12 March | 9.30 - 3.30 | Treetops Hospice |
Thursday | 9 October | 9.30 - 3.30 | Treetops Hospice |
The training really gave us confidence and guided us in how to tackle these difficult situations.
The Treetops staff were really knowledgeable and made talking about a difficult subject easier to cope with.
The session was interactive and felt personal and we’d recommend this training to any other school.
