Over half the volunteers receiving awards are based in our nineteen charity shops located across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
You really feel like you’re contributing to the charity
Linda Brown received her five year award for volunteering at our charity shop in Chaddesden. Linda sorts donations that have been brought in and helps on the till.
I love volunteering and I know we are very much appreciated. We’re never labelled ‘just a volunteer’ and that really counts for everything.
“It’s so nice to be a part of the charity shop and we all get on so well. At the end of the day, you want to know how much has been raised for the hospice and you really feel like you’re contributing to the charity. I’d say to anyone considering volunteering – just do it!”
I get a great sense of worth from helping out
Debbie Terry joined the volunteer team at our Wollaton charity shop after retiring from the NHS. She also received her five year award:
“When I retired, I missed being around people and the social contact. I popped into the local Treetops charity shop and offered my help, and haven’t looked back since.
I’ve made some wonderful friendships with the other volunteers and shop managers. It truly is like a big family.
“My friends think I’m very lucky as they know how much enjoyment I get from volunteering. You just make time for things that you enjoy, and I get a great sense of worth from helping.”

Volunteers are integral to each of our charity shops. They help help with the key tasks that ensure each shop runs smoothly from receiving and sorting donations, to serving customers.
You don’t need previous retail experience. This is a perfect role if you’re looking to enhance your CV, develop new skills, meet new people and have fun.
We’d love to hear from you if you have some spare time on your hands.
