Special thanks to the children and young people
Our special thanks go to all the children and young people who kindly shared their personal stories. Here's a little more about some of the children you'll hear from on the show.
Emily, 15
Emily came to Treetops following the death of her mum from cancer. Emily chose to take part in the Mollitiam Project, our non-talking therapy programme for groups of young people.
Harvey, 18
Harvey first came to Treetops for one-to-one counselling support when he was 10 years old, following the murder of his older brother.
He returned for further counselling as he got older and was part of the pilot for the Mollitiam Project in 2019.
When he finished his counselling, Harvey was keen to give back to Treetops and became our Children and Young People’s Ambassador. As part of this role, Harvey has shared his story at many events as an advocate for children’s counselling.
Jailen, 12
Jailen came to Treetops for one-to-one counselling support following the death of both his mum and dad. Jailen also enjoyed taking part in the Mollitiam Project.
Olivia, 16
Olvia came to Treetops following the death of her stepdad. Olivia attended the Mollitiam Project and enjoyed the creative activities.
Sade, 12 and Kali, 9
Sade and Kali came to Treetops following the death of their dad. Both Sade and Kali had one-to-one counselling. Sade also came to the Mollitiam Project with her sister, Olivia.
Tilly, 12
Tilly received one-to-one counselling support from Treetops following the death of her aunt. One of the coping strategies that Tilly learned in her sessions involved calming breathing techniques. She shared these with others through videos as part of a BBC Children in Need’s Children’s Mental Health Week earlier this year.
Toby, 18
Toby came to Treetops for one-to-one counselling support following the death of both his mum and a close friend. He enjoyed the flexibility of having his therapy sessions outdoors, making use of the beautiful hospice grounds.
