The service is available to all users of Treetops Hospice services and people registered with a GP practice in Derby city or Southern Derbyshire.

We offer support and counselling to people who have been bereaved from any cause.

Support is provided by a team of qualified counsellors, student counsellors and trained bereavement support volunteers. Sessions take place at the Cheetham Centre at Treetops.

Counselling helped me find a way to live with the pain

Ruth

Everyone’s experience of losing somebody significant is different. You may experience physical symptoms as well as emotional ones. Your mood might swing between feelings of despair and anger, and intense sadness and fear. You might feel tired and lethargic or hyperactive and unable to settle.

We believe that by talking through your thoughts and feelings with a trained support worker, you may be helped to find new meaning, a renewed sense of purpose and a way forward.

There are no time limits. You can ask for support whenever you wish, be it weeks, months or years following a bereavement. The service is available for as long as it is felt appropriate by yourself and your support worker.

How it works
