Gift Aid is a great government scheme designed to help charities.
What is Gift Aid and how does it work?
It’s as simple as ticking a Gift Aid box and leaving us your details, HMRC can then give us 25p for every £1 you donate. It doesn’t cost you a penny!
You can only tick a Gift Aid box if you pay more UK income or capital gains tax, this includes tax on pensions and savings, than the charities you donate to claim. That’s probably most of us.
What’s better is you need only do this once and all your future donations to Treetops Hospice are covered. as well as any donations you’ve given us during the past four years (if you were a UK taxpayer at this time).
So, please tick the Gift Aid box when you can, and every £1 you donate will be worth £1.25 – it’s that simple.
When making a monetary donation
When you donate online, or use one of our printed donation forms, you will see the Gift Aid box.
If you donate in an alternative way, we will send a Gift Aid form and prepaid envelope when we send you a thank you letter.
If you prefer you can download the Gift Aid form and send it with your donation.
If you are using a printed declaration, please put a line through ‘all my donations given to Treetops Hospice within the last four years and all donations I make in the future’ on the gift aid declaration.
If you are donating online, please get in touch to let us know.
If you gift aid future donations, it doesn’t commit you to making any, it just means if you do so you will not have to make a Gift Aid declaration again.
Please put a line through four in ‘within the last four years’ on the gift aid declaration and write the number of years.
If you haven’t been a taxpayer in the past put a line through ‘within the last four years’ If you are donating online, please get in touch to let us know.
Please get in touch as soon as your tax status changes. It may be you still pay a form of tax that enables Gift Aid to continue, but if not, we will stop claiming Gift Aid immediately.
This includes tax paid on:
wages,
personal or occupational pension,
stocks and shares,
bank and building society savings accounts,
rental income,
overseas and UK investment dividends.
Please get in touch and we will update your details
