Three people smiling holding teddies

Dozens of teddies will find new homes with bereaved youngsters thanks to a kind donation from Derbyshire Freemasons.

The special 'Teddies for Loving Care' will be included in therapeutic calming kits for our younger clients which are centred around  the five senses of sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. They help children to calm down at times when they are feeling anxious or starting to panic.

Increased trauma in younger clients

Our Children and Young People Counselling Service has seen an increased level of trauma in their younger clients. Being in isolation, not having family and friends around and being unable to say goodbye at funerals, has increased levels of stress, depression and sometimes led to panic attacks.

We know how difficult the last eighteen months has been on the younger generation. Especially if they’ve experienced a significant bereavement

Help children feel more in control

“We are incredibly grateful for the kind donation  from the Derbyshire Freemasons. We will be incorporating the teddies into our unique Calming Kits, which will help children to feel more in control of their body and mind.”
Neil recently took over coordinating the Freemasons Teddies for Loving Care scheme throughout the county. The teddies are usually given to comfort children when they are admitted to A&E.
